Taking it Slow

In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of projects and commitments. But for someone like me, living with mental health challenges, taking it slow isn't just an option; it's a necessity. Sometimes, even the simplest tasks can feel like monumental mountains to climb. That's why I've decided to embark on a new journey, one that allows me to pace myself and make progress at a speed my executive dysfunction can keep up with.

I've had my fair share of failed attempts at blogging. Each time, it was because I piled on too many obligations, like a juggler trying to keep one too many balls in the air. It's no wonder I dropped them all. You could say my past blogging attempts were like a comedy routine with the punchline, "Is this thing on?" Because, let's face it, when you don't have many readers, it often feels like your mic is perpetually muted.

Living with mental illnesses has made every aspect of life, from daily routines to writing and working, a constant struggle. There are days when the idea of moving, let alone pursuing my passions, seems impossible. I recently applied for disability benefits, not for the money, but in the hope that it would open doors to better therapy options under Medicare. Unfortunately, the system let me down, denying my application despite my clear eligibility. It's disheartening to see how broken our healthcare system can be.

Now, I find myself waiting for my husband's insurance to kick in, eagerly anticipating the day when our entire household can access the mental and overall health support we so desperately need. Until then, I'm determined to try a different approach to life and writing.

You've probably heard the saying, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." Well, that might just be the life of a writer. We're constantly experimenting with different approaches, hoping to find the one that sticks. And that's precisely what I intend to do.

I'm going to turn this blog into a diary and planner of sorts. My goal is to post every Monday and Friday. Mondays will be dedicated to what I 'plan' to achieve during the week, while Fridays will be about what I actually accomplished. But you know how it goes; my brain is like a random number generator, and my moods can be as unpredictable as interpretative dance moves during a song like "Bloody Valentine" by MGK.

Occasionally, you can expect me to dive into the world of reviews and provide hints and tricks for homesteading or other topics that pique my interest. However, don't hold your breath for consistency here. My brain is an ever-changing maze that I navigate daily, and sometimes it leads me down unexpected paths. So, join me on this journey of taking it slow, embracing life's temporary setbacks, and discovering the power of permanent comebacks. And if you find value in my words, don't forget to check out my link tree, where you can explore my book, "Love, Life, & Mental Illness," connect with me on social media, and even leave a review if you've read my book. Together, we'll navigate the complexities of mental health, body positivity, and all things nerdy, one unpredictable step at a time. Signing off, EMB
